Supertramp, το αγαπημένο μου συγκρότημα. Από τον πρώτο τους δίσκο, του 1970, όταν ακόμα δεν είχαν καταλήξει στον μετέπειτα ήχο τους, φαινόταν η ποιότητά τους. Το 1979 έγιναν γνωστοί παγκοσμίως με το Breakfast in America.
Το γκρουπ ήταν βασικά οι δύο του αρχηγοί και βασικοί συνθέτες: Rick Davies and Roger Hodgson. Το 1983 αποχώρησε ο δεύτερος από το γκρουπ. Πρόλαβαν όμως να μας δώσουν έξι albums μέσα στη δεκαετία του 1970, από πολύ καλά έως αριστουργηματικά:

1974 Crime of the Century
1975 Crisis? What Crisis?
1977 Even in the Quietest Moments
1979 Breakfast in America

Symphony for Eleanor – The ides of March 1970

Το Eleanor Rigby είναι κατά την προσωπική μου άποψη ένα από τα καλύτερα τραγούδια των Beatles του πιο πετυχημένου pop-rock συγκροτήματος στον κόσμο. Γι’ αυτό άλλωστε γνώρισε και πολλές διασκευές. Μία από αυτές, των ides of March, κυκλοφόρησε 4 χρόνια μετά την κυκλοφορία του original τραγουδιού, το 1970 και αποτελεί την καλύτερη διασκευή του συγκεκριμένου τραγουδιού που έχω ακούσει.

EPISODE - PAVLOV'S DOG 1975

Το 1975 ήταν μια χρονιά κατά την οποία κυκλοφόρησαν πολλά μουσικά αριστουργήματα. Τη χρονιά αυτήν έκανε το ντεμπούτο ένα από τα πλέον αγαπημένα μου συγκροτήματα, οι Αμερικανοί (από το St Louis) Pavlov's dog.
Το γκρουπ κυκλοφόρησε δύο μόνο δίσκους, το 1975 και το 1976, αλλά λόγω χαμηλών πωλήσεων η Columbia Records αρνήθηκε να τους εκδώσει και τρίτο, το 1977 κι έτσι διαλύθηκαν.
Κρίμα γιατί και η δουλειά τους ήταν ποιοτικά εξαίρετη.
Το episode για παράδειγμα είναι ένα τραγούδι που σε μαγεύει από τους πρώτους ήχους της βιόλας του Siegfried Carver. Ο τραγουδιστής (μπερδεύεται από τους περισσότερους που νομίζουν ότι ακούνε γυναίκα) είναι ο David Surcamp.
