Τον Ιανουάριο του 1967 κυκλοφόρησε ένα single από το Αμερικανικό (Καλιφορνέζικο) συγκρότημα των χελωνών (Turtles). Οι Turtles είχαν μέσα στη διετία 1965-66 τρία κομμάτια που μπήκαν στο Αμερικανικό Top - 40, αλλά έκτοτε καμία άλλη επιτυχία. Όταν άκουσαν το demo με τη σύνθεση των Garry Bonner και Alan Gordon αποφάσισαν να πούν οι ίδιοι το τραγούδι, προβλέποντας ότι θα γνωρίσει επιτυχία. Πράγματι το κομμάτι αυτό έφτασε το Νο 1 στο US Billboard Hot 100, το Νο 2 στον Καναδά και το Νο 12 στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο.
Άλλο Νο 1 δεν γνώρισαν στην καριέρα τους.
