Toν Νοέμβριο του 1967 οι Cream που αποτελούνταν από τον κιθαρίστα Eric Clapton, τον μπασίστα Jack Bruce και τον drummer Ginger Baker κυκλοφόρησαν το δεύτερο άλμπουμ τους με τίτλο: Disraeli years. Ο δίσκος αυτός περιείχε και ένα κλασσικό τραγούδι των Cream που έγινε και η μεγαλύτερη εμπορική επιτυχία τους (Νο 5 στις ΗΠΑ τον Αύγουστο του 1968), το Sunshine of your love.
Τον ρυθμό του τραγουδιού ο Jack Bruce τον εμπνεύστηκε μετά από μια συναυλία του Jimmy Hendrix.

Παραμένουμε στο 1967, ένα έτος από μια σειρά ετών που έβγαλαν αριστουργήματα. Θα κάνουμε ένα διάλειμμα από την Αγγλο-Αμερικανική σκηνή και θα κάνουμε μία βόλτα στην υπόλοιπη Ευρώπη και κυρίως Ιταλία και Γαλλία. Σαν σύνδεσμός μεταξύ των δύο μουσικών σκηνών θα ξεκινήσουμε με ένα τραγούδι που έχει ρίζες και στις δύο σκηνές. Το τραγούδι με τίτλο "Let's Live for Today" αρχικά γράφηκε από τον Άγγλο μουσικό David "Shel" Shapiro και οι στίχοι από τον Ιταλό Mogol, το 1966, με Ιταλικό τίτλο "Piangi con me" (Cry with Me). Ο Shapiro ήταν μέλος του συγκροτήματος "the Rokes", ενός Βρετανικού γκρουπ που έκανε καριέρα στην Ιταλία από το 1963, με 20 επιτυχίες στα Ιταλικά charts. Η μεγαλύτερη ήταν το Piangi con me, το 1966 όταν αποφασίστηκε να κυκλοφορήσει το τραγούδι και στην Αγγλία. Τελικά άλλαξαν πλήρως του στίχους και κυκλοφόρησε σαν "Let's Live for Today", χωρίς όμως να γίνει επιτυχία.
Στις ΗΠΑ ωστόσο το τραγούδι αυτό κυκλοφόρησε από το Αμερικανικό συγκρότημα των The Grass Roots και σύντομα έγινε μεγάλη επιτυχία φτάνοντας μέχρι το Νο 8 των singles και πουλώντας πάνω από 2 εκατομύρια αντίτυπα.
