Αν δεν έβαζε αγγλικό πρωτάθλημα ο Διακογιάννης στην ΕΡΤ τα μεσημέρια του Σαββάτου, αρχές δεκαετίας του 80 (ίσως τέλη και του 70; - τι θυμάσαι εσύ βρε τζόβενο;), δεν νομίζω να γινόμουν Μάντσεστερ.

Τη χρονιά αυτή ένα φωνητικό Αμερικανικό συγκρότημα κυκλοφόρησε ένα πραγματικό αριστούργημα, ένα τραγούδι που πάντοτε συγκαταλεγόταν στα πιο σημαντικά ροκ τραγούδια της 10ετίας και όχι μόνον. Οι περίφημοι Beach Boys, τα παιδιά της παραλίας, που ξεκίνησαν την καριέρα τους με τραγούδια ανάλαφρα, καλοκαιρινά, όπως το Surfing USA, έφτασαν στο σημείο, καθοδηγούμενοι από τον αρχηγό και συνθέτη τους Brian Wilson, να γράφουν τόσο ποιοτικά τραγούδια.
To single έγινε Νο 1 σε πολλές χώρες συμπεριλαμβανομένων των δύο σπουδαιότερων αγορών, των ΗΠΑ και του Η.Β.

To 1966 οι Beatles κυκλοφόρησαν το επαναστατικό (για την εποχή) Revolver, όπου πειραματίζονταν με το Ινδικό sitar, ενώ ο παραγωγός τους George Martin έβαλε στο συγκεκριμένο τραγούδι double string quartet.
Το τραγούδι διαπραγματεύεται τη ζωή των μοναχικών ατόμων που έρχονται και φεύγουν από τη ζωή, χωρίς κανέναν στο πλάι τους.
Το τραγούδι γνώρισε πολύ μεγάλη επιτυχία σε όλες τις χώρες του κόσμου και εξ αυτού ορμώμενος ο John Lennon είπε το περίφημο: "οι Beatles είναι πιο δημοφιλείς παγκοσμίως απ' ό,τι ο Ιησούς Χριστός" κάτι που σήκωσε τρομερή αντίδραση από την Παπική Εκκλησία των ΗΠΑ και στο πλαίσιο αυτό έγιναν συγκεντρώσεις διαμαρτυρίας όπου ο κόσμος έκαιγε δίσκους των Beatles.
